On 7/7/07, The powerHouse Arena was off and running, so to speak. Nike’s plans to launch their iconic vintage running shoes took off with the launch of RE-RUN, an iconoclastic installation paying tribute to the the renegade spirit and free-thinking energy of the 70s. The event was a veritable who’s who of running aficionados, downtown artists, and VIPs from the 77 Drum performance by the Boredoms which took place earlier in the day, just down the block. DJ Free Simon set the mood with classic 70s grooves, local group Soiled Mattress and the Springs performed live, with their sax player scaling the Arena steps, and Young Nate closed the show. An unforgettable affair, with sweet kicks, cool kids, and some mellow 70s tunes.
