We welcome Slate columnist Sasha Issenberg and Politico's Maggie Haberman to the store to discuss Issenberg's new book on the science of winning an election.

About The Victory Lab:

What better time to publish a book about the science of winning elections than right in the heat of a presidential campaign? And who better to guide us through this process than journalist and rising star of the political press corps Sasha Issenberg, a columnist at Slate and a Washington correspondent for Monocle? Issenberg covered the 2008 presidential campaign for the Boston Globe and his bestselling eBook original—Rick Perry and His Eggheads—received national media attention from the New York Times, The Economist, Boston Globe, NPR, MSNBC, Fox, CNN, and other major news outlets.

Rick Perry and His Eggheads was a glimpse at the revolution underway in campaign politics, then THE VICTORY LAB: The Secret Science of Winning Campaigns (Crown; on sale September 11, 2012) is the full picture. Issenberg writes about the statisticians, strategists, academics and maverick operatives who are reshaping how political campaigns are won and lost in this riveting, eye-opening book—which Politico aptly described as "Moneyball for politics." Issenberg pulls back the curtain on the tactics and strategies used by some of our most important figures—including Barack Obama and Mitt Romney—with iconoclastic insights into human decision-making, marketing, and campaign tactics.
