Eco Amazons

Please join us for a signing and discussion with Dorka Keehn, author of Eco Amazons, eco entrepreneur Majora Carter, and eco fashion trailblazer Marci Zaroff. In this discussion, the panelists will shed light on how effort and individual concern give rise to passion; how passion leads to action; and, how action effects meaningful change—efforts that can be emulated by each and every one of us.

About Eco Amazons:

Eco Amazons brings together, for the first time, the women leading the charge to ensure a healthy environment for all life on earth. Through intimate interviews conducted by journalist Dorka Keehn and arresting images by award–winning photographer Colin Finlay, Eco Amazons calls attention to this century's critical environmental challenges by focusing on the remarkable women developing solutions and guiding us towards a sustainable future.

About the Speakers:

Dorka Keehn journalist and activist, is a leader in the women's movement, she is a founder of Emerge America, a premier training program for Democratic women planning to run for political office, and is a Commissioner on the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women, where she chairs the Justice & Courage Domestic Violence Project. Keehn also hosts the arts and culture Internet/radio program, Keehn on Art, and has produced several programs for television including the two-time Emmy award-winning documentary, Of Civil Wrongs and Rights: The Fred Korematsu Story.

Majora Carter, eco-entrepreneur, founded the nonprofit Sustainable South Bronx in 2001, where she developed restoration projects on the Bronx River waterfront, built green roofs, and created one of the nation's first urban green jobs training and placement systems. She received a MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship in recognition of great future potential. In 2008, Majora launched the Majora Carter Group, a green-collar economic consulting firm that develops investment opportunities in marginalized communities across the country.

Marci Zaroff first coined the term and pioneered the market for ECOfashion®, then founded leading sustainable lifestyle brands Under the Canopy and FASE (Fashion-Art-Soul-Earth).
