Diana Schoenbrun of Beasties fame will be in the store teaching us how to make recycled sock puppets with her newest book, Puppet Play. B.Y.O.S. (Bring Your Own Sock). Ages 5–9.

About Puppet Play:

A lonely sock becomes a wizard puppet. A glove without a mate turns into five little pig puppets. And that tired dishtowel transforms into a lively banjo player puppet—all at very little cost. In Puppet Play, puppet builder, illustrator, and author Diana Schoenbrun demonstrates how recycled materials and everyday household items can be transformed into adorable, one-of-a-kind puppets for hours of crafting fun and family play. Puppet Play can also provide an opportunity to introduce the importance of the green movement to little ones in a creative, engaging way. How-to illustrations, full-color photographs of puppets, as well as a chapter that guides children through creating and presenting their own puppet show accompany Diana Schoenbrun's easy-to-follow directions. So, the next time the dryer eats a single sock, get crafty, go green, and go play with Puppet Play.
