Write, Fight, and Ignite: The Power of Women’s Stories

Women writers are helping shape the national conversation more than ever before – and it’s long overdue!  Please join Publisher Christine Ball for a panel discussion with some of Dutton and Plume’s most talented, empowering, and remarkable authors who fight for and elevate women with their work: Carrie Goldberg (Nobody’s Victim), Brenda Jones and Krishan Trotman (Queens of The Resistance), and Caitlin Moscatello (See Jane Win).  Wine and cheese will be served.

Brenda Jones, longtime communications director for Civil Rights leader and Rep. John Lewis, has teamed up with Krishan Trotman, executive editor at Hachette Books, to write QUEENS OF THE RESISTANCE, a series of four books, all to be published in Summer 2020.  In a fusion of narrative, photos, and beautiful illustrations, each book in the series will celebrate a separate political hero: Elizabeth Warren, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Nancy Pelosi, and Maxine Waters.

Carrie Goldberg is a pioneering victim’s rights lawyer in Brooklyn who litigates for victims of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and blackmail. Her riveting book NOBODY’S VICTIM: Fighting Psychos, Stalkers, Pervs, and Trolls, shares her own gripping story along with the diabolical ways Goldberg’s clients are attacked (they are mostly women), and how she, through her unique combination of advocacy, badass relentlessness, risk-taking, and client-empowerment, gets justice for them all.

Caitlin Moscatello is a journalist and writer covering gender, reproductive rights, and politics for The Cut, Elle, Glamour, and O, among others.  Her book, SEE JANE WIN: The Inspiring Story of the Women Changing American Politics, is an inside look at the female candidates fighting back and winning elections in the crucial 2018 midterms.
